In the Qur’an, it is declared with the instructions given to the prophet, who is the messenger of religion, that a very wide area of freedom has been opened to people in terms of freedom of religion and belief, and it is guaranteed that everyone can believe as they want, and it is emphasized that not believing is a human right as much as believing. However, in the following stages, a perception emerged that the verses related to war, which were revealed for defense purposes against the aggressive attitudes of non-Muslims, overshadowed the principles of the Qur’an regarding freedom of religion and belief, with the influence of the opinions formed over time by Muslims. The number of people who came to the conclusion that Islam is a religion that disregards the freedom of religion and belief has increased day by day when the killing of those who apostatize is added to this. In this article, the connection between the verses of the Qur’an that prioritize peace and reconciliation and the verses that command war will be tried to be determined, and in this context, the relationship between religious freedom and religious freedom will be tried to be determined.
