Abstract

This study contains the effect of Abu’l-Hasan al’Ash’arî’s (d. 324/935-36) understanding of the universe on formation understanding of cosmology of Ahl al-Sunnah. In this context, his ideas for the elements of the universe and the universe (substance, attribute, matter, space, movement, causality) were considered and tried to be examined. After leaving Mu‘tazila, which he was a member of, it has been tried to determine how Ash’arî collect on the accumulation he received in daqîqu’l-kalâm (kalâm cosmology) topics in his own way and affected it to the Ahl al-Sunnah school, especially the Ash’arî school. From this point of view, it was mentioned whether the ideas of Ash’arî were included in the understanding of cosmology of Ahl al-Sunnah. On the other hand, it was studied to respond to claims that Bâqillânî (d. 403/1013) of kalâm’s leading role in establishing Ahl al-Sunnah‘s understanding of cosmology in recent studies. Contrary to these claims, it was stated that the views of Ash’arî, who led the establishment of the Ash’arî school, on daqîqu’l-kalâm topics, played a leading role in the formation of Ahl al-Sunnah‘s understanding of cosmology. The study was limited to Ash’arî‘s understanding of the universe and the effect of this understanding on Ahl al-Sunnah‘s understanding of cosmology. On the other hand, the opinions of other kalâm schools and mutakallimûn on daqîqu’l-kalâm topics were also applied. In the context of this opinions, arguments were tried to be brought and analyzed. Descriptive and comparison method were used in the study.Bu çalışma Ebü’l-Hasan el-Eş’arî’nin (ö. 324/935-36) âlem anlayışının Ehl-i Sünnet’in kozmoloji anlayışına etkisini ihtiva etmektedir. Bu bağlamda onun âlem ve âlemin unsurlarına (cevher, araz, cisim, mekân, hareket, nedensellik) yönelik fikirleri ele alınıp irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Eş’arî’nin, mensubu olduğu Mu’tezile’den ayrıldıktan sonra dakîk konularda aldığı birikimi kendi yöntemiyle nasıl mezcettiği ve başta Eş’arî’lik ekolü olmak üzere Ehl-i Sünnet ekolüne aktardığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu açıdan Eş’arî’nin mezkûr fikirlerinin Ehl-i Sünnet’in kozmoloji anlayışında yer edinip-edinilmediğine değinilmiştir. Öte yandan Ehl-i Sünnet’in kozmoloji anlayışının kurulmasında başat rol oynayan kelâmcının Bâkıllânî (ö. 403/1013) olduğu yönündeki iddialara da cevap verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu iddiaların aksine Eş’arîlik ekolünün kurulmasına öncülük eden Eş’arî’nin dakîk konulardaki görüşlerinin Ehl-i Sünnet’in kozmoloji anlayışının meydana gelmesinde öncü rol oynadığına yer verilmiştir.
