ORTAOKUL 8. SINIF TÜRKÇE DERS KİTABINDA YER ALAN TÜRK DİLİ İLE İLGİLİ KÜLTÜREL ÖGELERİN TESPİTİ VE İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Culture, which is one of the most fundamental value that holds society together , continues to exist through the generations. In particular, the transfer of cultural values to the next generations is of great importance in ensuring social sustainability. Language is the basis of the cultural structure. Cultural values are easily transferred to the next generations through language and thus continue to exist for many years. In the first place, families have the responsibility of transferring these values to their children from a young age, and then schools play an important role in transferring these values to children. Incorparation of texts including elements of national culture, in textbooks used in schools is of great importance in making students familiar with these values from a young age. In particular, the texts used in Turkish courses play an important role in transferring the culture. Given that first language teaching is carried out through Turkish lessons, the importance of Turkish lessons, coursebooks, and even if indirectly the importance of Turkish teachers will be better understood in transferring the cultural elements of language to students. In this study, the inclusion of cultural elements of language in texts of Turkish coursebooks of primary school eighth class was examined, language-related cultural values were identified, classified and recorded and then the way in which these language-related cultural values are incorparated into the texts was determined. In this study, document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, were used. Document analysis method covers analysis of written materials that contains information about the case or cases that are aimed to be investigated. The aim of the inductive analysis, is to reveal the underlying concepts of the collected data and the relationship between those concepts. As a result, as cultural elements of Turkish language, phrases (f= 91), reduplications (f= 76), figurative expressions (f= 51), reflection words (f= 13), oral properties (f= 8), sayings (f= 4), proverbs (f= 1) are determined to be included in the Turkish coursebook examined.
