The Dialectical Relationship Between Poetics and Metaphysics: The Example of Ahmedi’s Diwan

Abstract

This study is structured around two fundamental themes. One is the examination of the dialectical relationship between poetics (poetry) and metaphysics, and the other is a philosophical evaluation of Ahmedi Diwan, a 14th-century poet considered one of the founding texts of literature, from this dialectical perspective. First, the dialectical relationship between poetry and metaphysics is examined. The question of the nature of metaphysics and poetry is sought. The relevance and differences between philosophical and poetic discourse in expressing truth are considered, and the dialectical ground that could be valid for these two discourses is examined. A brief overview of Farabi and Ibn Sina's assessments of poetry is provided, citing Aristotle's Poetics. Then, the topic of poetry from an Islamic artistic perspective is examined, exploring the representational power of poetry in expressing truth in Islamic thought and its ontic and epistemic relationship with metaphysics. The final section of the study examines the philosophical concepts and themes Ahmedi addresses in his Diwan, particularly those with metaphysical content, from the perspective of Islamic philosophy. It also includes some observations about the philosophers and philosophical schools that influenced Ahmedi's philosophical thought.

Bu çalışma iki temel konu üzerinden kurgulanmıştır. Bunlardan biri poetika ile metafizik arasındaki diyalektik ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Bir diğeri ise 14. yüzyıl şairlerinden Ahmedî Dîvânı’nın felsefî olarak değerlendirilmesidir. Öncelikli olarak şiir sanatı ve metafizik arasındaki diyalektik ilişki ele alınmıştır. Metafizik ve şiirin mahiyetinin ne olduğu sorusuna cevap aranmıştır. Hakikati dile getirmede felsefî söylem ile şiirsel söylem arasındaki uygunluk ve farklılıklar dikkate alınılarak bu iki söylem için geçerli olabilecek diyalektik zeminin nasıllığı incelenmiştir. Aristo’nun Poetika eserine atıf yapılarak Fârâbî ve İbn Sînâ’nın şiir sanatı hakkındaki değerlendirmelerine kısaca yer verilmiştir. Daha sonra İslam sanat perspektifinde şiir konusu ele alınılarak İslam düşünce geleneğinde hakikati ifade etmede şiirin temsil gücü ve metafizikle olan ontik ve epistemik boyutu irdelenmiştir. Çalışmanın son kısmında ise Ahmedî’nin Dîvân’da yer verdiği felsefî kavram ve temalar incelenerek özellikle metafizik içeriğe sahip kavram ve konular İslam felsefesi açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Ahmedî’nin felsefî düşüncesinin şekillenmesinde etkili olan filozof ve felsefî ekoller hakkında da birtakım tespitlere yer verilmiştir.
