Okul öncesi ve ilkokul kademesinde çalışan psikolojik danışmanların çocuklarda yas süreci ile ilgili yeterlilik algılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi ve ilkokul kademesinde görev yapan psikolojik danışmanların çocuklarda yas sürecine ilişkin yeterlik algılarını incelemektir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim (fenomenoloji) deseni ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma grubu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Siirt il merkezinde Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı okulların okul öncesi ve ilkokul kademelerinde görev yapan 12 okul psikolojik danışman oluşturmaktadır. Veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla yüzyüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilerek toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiş ve analiz sürecinde MAXQDA 2020 nitel veri analiz programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, okul psikolojik danışmanlarının büyük çoğunluğunun çocuklarla yas sürecinde çalışmaya dair kendilerini yeterli hissetmedikleri belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılar, bu süreçte en çok materyal eksikliği ve süpervizyon ihtiyacı yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca, çocukların gelişim dönemlerine uygun yaklaşım sergilemenin en çok zorlandıkları alanlardan biri olduğu görülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda, okul psikolojik danışmanlarının yas sürecinde çocuklara destek sunabilme yeterliklerini artırmaya yönelik eğitsel ve kurumsal destek mekanizmalarının oluşturulması gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of psychological counselors working at preschool and primary school level about their competence perceptions regarding the grief process in children. The study was conducted with phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group was determined by criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods. The study group consisted of 12 school counselors working in pre-school and primary school levels of schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Siirt city center. The data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis method and MAXQDA 2020 qualitative data analysis program was used in the analysis process. As a result of the research, it was determined that the majority of school counselors did not feel competent to work with children in the grief process. Participants stated that they mostly experienced lack of materials and supervision needs in this process. In addition, it was seen that exhibiting an approach appropriate to children's developmental periods was one of the areas where they had the most difficulty. In line with the findings, it was concluded that educational and institutional support mechanisms should be established to increase the competencies of school counselors to support children during the grief process.
