Relationship Between Educational Use of Social Networks and Overloading Social Networks

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between pre-service teachers' educational use of social networking and social network overload. For this purpose

a relational survey design was used in the study. The participants of the study consisted of 297 pre-service teachers studying at the Education Faculty of a state university in Turkey. “Scale of Educational Use of Social Networks” and “Scale of Social Network Overload” were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics

Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation and Regression analyses were performed on the data. In the study

it was determined that pre-service teachers' educational use of social networking was high

and social network overload was at a moderate level. As a result

this study revealed that there is a significant negative correlation between pre-service teachers' educational use of social networking and social network overload. It also indicates that information

communication

social and system overload are significant predictors of educational social networking use. Although this study has some important results about pre-service teachers' educational use of social networking

it also has some limitations.
