| dc.description.abstract | The increasing world population has increased the necessary demand for food and thus the need for the agricultural industry. Agriculture also experiences other difficulties like depletion of land, soil degradation, and climate change. Biotechnology is an effective way of increasing agricultural output and minimizing negative environmental and food security impacts. Advances in biotechnology revolutionized crop production, facilitating the development of genetically modified organisms with beneficial traits (i.e., insect resistance or drought tolerance) and improved nutritional properties. Methods of genetic engineering, like CRISPR-Cas9, enable modifications to be made to the genome with precision, making it easier to create crops that fit a need. This improves the ability of the crops to adapt to changes, reduces reliance on pesticides, and increases crop production, thereby also encouraging sustainable agricultural practices. Moreover, biotechnology is significant in advancing innovative methods of crop production techniques. Biotechnology provides real practical solutions to counter current agricultural issues which contain the growing demands for food, environmental deterioration and climate change. Biotechnology enables the development of sustainable agricultural practices, improves food security, and creates a more powerful agricultural economy for the next generation. © 2026 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. | |
